Since 2018, we’ve helped kids use the game of chess to build focus and problem-solving skills — while learning a new skill and having tons of fun along the way.
Our team of 26 tutors includes Grandmasters, International Masters, and FIDE Masters. But more importantly, they’re great teachers who know how to connect with kids and make lessons engaging.
I started MyChessTutor after nearly two decades in chess myself. Families stay with us because kids enjoy their lessons and parents see steady progress. That’s the best sign we’re doing something right.

We're an online academy that offers private 1-1 chess lessons. Since 2018, we've taught a 1000+ kids across the United States!
All of our tutors are top-rated chess players with years of teaching experience. Every tutor is carefully vetted and trained before joining our team.
Lessons are live over Zoom. Your child sees the tutor, shares an interactive chessboard on screen, and learns through games, puzzles, and guided practice.
We work with kids ages 5–16, from complete beginners to advanced tournament players.
No experience required! Many of our students start with zero knowledge — we build from the basics step by step.
Each lesson is 30–60 minutes, depending on your child’s age and attention span.
Most families choose 1 lesson per week, but you can adjust to fit your schedule.
We’ll match your child with a tutor based on age, skill, and personality. If it’s not the right fit, we’ll happily switch tutors at no charge.
Lessons start at $45 per session. There are no contracts — you only pay for the lessons you choose.
All you need is a computer, internet connection, and Zoom (free download). No special software or physical chess set is required.
After you enroll, you’ll choose a convenient time for your child’s free lesson. You’ll receive a confirmation email with the Zoom link and tutor details.
Yes. The first lesson is completely free, with no obligation to continue. If it’s not the right fit, you walk away with a personalized progress report — at no cost.
